So, as often as I read and comment on other people's blogs, I stink at
updating my own blog. I'll try to get better about that.
Last night at the fireworks, people weren't allowed to bring water, beer,
or beverages of any kind so that the city could bank on them buying
drinks from them and make the big cash. What makes me so sad is
how many Corona bottles people leave all over the ground afterwards. I wish people would learn how to clean up after themselves!!
So, I went to my little niece's teen titans birthday
party this past weekend, and I didn't know all that stuff even
existed! It was so cool! Kids these days have so many neat
toys. I got her a couple of teen titan toys, you know just to fit in with the theme. I remember when I had a rainbow brite birthday party-those were the days :)
Just got these great new plush Curious George Dolls. I saw the movie, very cute and was so inspired to have a little monkey of my very own. Of, course on my budget I couldn't afford a real monkey so I opted for a little soft plush monkey. I did a quick search and found a great online store with a bunch of Curious George Products. I bought a Curious George Hawaiin Shirt doll and my roomate a Curious George Splish Splash doll. I know it is not like having a real monkey, but c'mon who would really want that kind of headache...Michael Jackson maybe:)
So, after spending my weekend at Purdue university with a group of very
intelligent students, it was a rude awakening to go back to
kindergarten art today. It's not that they aren't super cute or
anything...it's just that they are sooooo messy!! I would love a group
of students that could actually get out supplies on their own, or have
more than a 5 second attention span. I don't mind the job...but I
certainly don't want to spend my life there.
So...we got slammed with a snow storm yesterday, and I spent THREE
HOURS on the roads, to drive 15 miles. You read that
right...FIFTEEN miles in three hours. I have never been so happy
to see my house in my entire life. The good news is-I got a snow
day today, so I don't have to teach. Hooray! I've decdided
that snow days are WAY better as a teacher than they were as a
student.
So, what do you think about the Narnia craze?? I'm pretty stoked to
see these movies-I reread the books as an adult, and I enjoyed them
even more than as a kid. They are fantastic books to read before
you go to bed. I had the most creative dreams of my whole life
when I was reading the series. However, one or two people
I"ve talked to don't seem to think that people are going to want to see
the movie...what??? If they liked Lord of the Rings, they'll totally
want to see this. And besides, most people aren't very picky
about what they see. If something is popular-they'll see it!
I've never been a person to insist on seeing a movie
on opening night at midnight. I guess I just don't have that
intense of a desire. I'm totally willing to wait a week or
so. I don't have to be the first. Just don't ruin it for me :)
rats. my photo is too large. I'll have to figure out how to
make it smaller. I'll try later....
I thought I would put some photos up here that I have taken
occasionally. Isn't this sunflower beautiful??? There is
this amazing "pick your own" sunflower field by my house. I love
to ride my bike up there and pick them, put them in my 50's bike
basket, and ride them back to my dining room table. Too bad it's
winter now. On a side note...I just saw a
HUGE hawk eating a squirrel in my front yard. It was like
National Geographic or something!!
So, as much as I read and comment on other people's blogs, I never seem
to write in my own. Too much pressure to come up with something
really witty to say I suppose. I'll try to write more
often!
